My time with toddlers is governed by the following facts: Hands-on experiences are the best and why I prefer play to "worksheets". Toddlers have emotions similar to adult emotions but their thought processes are quite different. Meet them on their level. Toddlers emotions are close to the surface. I compare them to a light switch--one minute happy and the next sad. They can go from calm to agitated in seconds. Patience is the most important word I use to describe how to deal with toddlers. Stay calm and help them to learn of their own abilities to deal with their feelings.
Remember to keep the worksheets simple. Do not make them too challenging or the kids will loose interest. They need to have fun without realizing that they are learning. You do not want to confuse the young minds either. These learning worksheets can also include pictures to help them and make it more fun. Include games where mom and dad can help at home. Taking learning home helps the whole family stay on track and maximize learning time. Kids often switch off at school because they know it is school work but by turning school work into a game at home can often be more effective.
When you are teaching your student to write, there are a whole host of worksheets online that you can use. Many of these include clipart that will help the students learn the sounds of letters and letter combinations. There are other sheets that help the student learn to write his or her numbers. It is helpful having printable worksheets for something like this, because parents often go through quite a few of these before the child masters writing the numbers or letters correctly. Even the youngest students--kindergarteners--will benefit from printable worksheets. They will help your little one learn and master basic concepts in way that will capture and hold their attention. Remember that small kids enjoy doing things rather than simply reading or listening. For this reason, attractive, well-illustrated worksheets with something to do will make learning fun for them. What is more, completing your worksheet will give the child a tremendous sense of fulfillment.
You can find worksheets for a wide range of courses--almost any course you want to teach your children. These include spelling, writing, English, history, math, music, geography, and others. They are also available for nearly all grade levels. There are printable middle school, high school, elementary school, and even pre-school worksheets. There are other sources for worksheets also. You can find many public schools and private schools which will provide free worksheets for you if you buy textbooks from the school. Or you can usually find textbooks and workbooks at the public library, where you can also copy any worksheets that you want to use. So what kinds of worksheets should you get? Anything where you feel that your child needs further drill. We often have this notion that worksheets are just for math. This, of course, is not true. While they are excellent tools for reviewing math facts such as the multiplication tables and division facts, they are just as useful for reviewing parts of speech or the states in the union.
Kindergarten Worksheets present an interesting way for kindergarten children to learn and reinforce basic concepts. Since children learn best by doing and since children get bored very easily, giving them well-designed, illustrated worksheets to do makes it easier and more fun for them to learn. Completing a worksheet also gives children a great sense of fulfillment. How to use worksheets for best effect: Give children worksheets appropriate to their level. Give an easy worksheet for a concept immediately after you teach that concept.
Math games for first graders take the simple skills that children learned in kindergarten and build on them by introducing new concepts in an encouraging learning environment that works with kids at their own levels. Whether a child needs to review concepts from kindergarten or is ready to move on to more challenging addition and subtraction skills, online games can give him or her exactly the right kinds of math problems to work with. Both teachers and parents can use this technology to track kids has progress, thereby making it easier to know what academic level a child is at and when he or she is ready to move on. First graders are still very playful and often learn better when they are allowed to incorporate this natural instinct into their academic experience. Online math games for first graders combine a robust curriculum designed to promote proficiency with unique, entertaining characters and settings that grab and keep kids has attention. Many young children have not yet developed the attention span necessary to sit and learn from traditional print media for long periods of time, so breaking up traditional lessons with a few math games can help keep them from getting restless while still focusing on learning essential skills. Games can also be used to encourage struggling students by showing them that math can be fun rather than frustrating
If education is your goal, you may want a set of worksheets designed to teach your child all of the basic skills they will need for school. There are hundreds if not thousands of free printable worksheets available online. These are ideal for filling time or keeping the kids busy on a rainy day, but few of them offer a systematic set of worksheets with activities designed to teach your children a specific set of skills. If education is your aim, you may have to spend a little to get useful, comprehensive worksheets that actually help your child to learn. Some free worksheets are not good quality - the pictures are fuzzy, backgrounds print gray or speckled - and children tend to notice these things. If you are using the worksheets to educate your child, you may want to choose good quality worksheets that encourage your child to produce good quality work. After all, it is a little difficult to ask your child to color within the lines and work neatly when the worksheet they are filling in has not done the same.
