There are two important points that may be kept in mind here: The learning should be fun. It should not feel like work, but play. For otherwise, children will quickly get bored. Hence it would be a good idea to use a lot of interesting activities, games, coloring sheets, illustrated kindergarten worksheets etc. You should be well prepared with these teaching aids, which can be made very easily. The learning should be real-worldly. It is easiest to learn and remember when whatever is learned is immediately applied to a practical, real-life situation. You should use every opportunity to teach and regularly reinforce basic concepts taught, in real-life and in real-time. For instance, during snack-time, if a child is eating a biscuit, you can say - B for biscuit. While waiting for a school van, you can say - V for Van and so on.
With the new school year starting soon, many parents will be concerned about school readiness and looking for ways to help their children prepare for big school. While there are many preschool worksheets available, some are more useful than others in terms of versatility. There is a lot more to school readiness that just knowing the alphabet and counting to ten.
Remember to select worksheets that are the right level difficulty for your child. Get something too hard, and your child will become discouraged. Make it too easy, and they will not learn much. Homeschool worksheets are far more than busy work. They are an important part of making sure that the concepts you teach in your home school stick with your child. Just make sure you have a good source for providing the worksheets, and that they are the right ones for your kid or kids.
Show a magazine or picture book to children. Ask them to identify all instances of the given letter in any page. Hand out letter cards to all children. Call out a letter. The child with that card has to come in front of the class and display the letter. Divide the class into two groups. Give one group letter cards. Give other group various objects. The first group will hold up a letter. The second group should hold up an object that starts with that letter. Where can we get kindergarten abc worksheets? You can design them yourself and print them out. Many printed workbooks are available. A good alternative is to download printable kindergarten abc worksheets. This is advantageous because you can then usually print out any sheet any number of times.
Try to supplement each worksheet with a real-life activity. For example after a worksheet on counting, you can ask the child to pick out 3 biscuits and 2 carrots from many. Remember, a child is learning many new things at once. A child of this age has an amazing capacity to learn many new things fast. He can also forget them equally fast. Doing many interesting worksheets with cartoons etc would be fun for him and would help continually reinforce what is learnt. Give positive feedback and encourage a child. His finer motor skills are just developing. Do not expect or try for perfection. Do not give any writing exercise too early i.e until he is fully comfortable with holding a pencil. Spend sufficient time and continually reinforce the learning in day-to-day situations. Most importantly, it should be fun for the teacher and the taught!
There are several ways of writing worksheets. Cursive writing worksheets and specialized kindergarten group worksheets are very common amongst the small children. The children get expertise by practicing over with these worksheets and learn the control of hand muscles for writing and follow the pattern of writing, which is helpful for them for their whole life. There are various patterns of the different letter strokes present in these worksheets. The tracing of these patters make the kids to slowly learn the structuring of letter. There are many parents, who make use of the writing worksheets for teaching the children about the writing patterns, even before they start their school.
Letter tracing: This is where you have a dotted line spelling out a word, with the picture next to the word, and the goal of the exercise is for students to practice writing while improving their phonetic skills. For instance, they might trace out the words for bat, ball, and basket. This is a really good, straightforward activity. Connect The Letter To The Correct Sound/Word: These are activities where you draw a line between a letter and the picture items that start with that letter. For instance, you had draw a line from the letter A to the word "Apple" and the letter L to the word "Lemon". This activity is good, but takes a lot of monitoring to make sure that students are correctly connecting the letters. It is best as a homework activity, where parents can help to make sure their children are correctly connecting the letters to the words.
